Dr. Garrett Kawata has been practicing orthodontics in Corona, CA, for over 20 years. Having grown up in California, and now raising a family of his own, Dr. Kawata understands the needs of the patients and families he treats. He has a deep connection to the community he serves, and is dedicated to making your orthodontic treatment a positive experience.
Education
Dr. Kawata was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. After attending the University of Southern California for his undergraduate studies, he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of the Pacific, School of Dentistry, where he also served as student body vice president. He then attended the University of Southern California, School of Dentistry, completing his postdoctoral orthodontic residency in 1986. He opened his orthodontic practice in Corona in 1987.
Continuing Education

Continuing education is an important part of Dr. Kawata's responsibilities as an orthodontist. He is heavily involved in continuing education in order to stay current with the latest trends in the orthodontic field; and, to offer his patients the latest orthodontic treatment options. Dr. Kawata is a member of several professional associations that provide continuing education opportunities, including:

Dr. Kawata is also on the Board of Directors of the H.L. Dougherty and Keith Tanaka Orthodontic Foundation as well as the Southern California component of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists. He is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Southern California, School of Dentistry, Department of Graduate Orthodontics, where he's been voted "Teacher of the Year" four times.
Family and Community
Dr. Kawata is an enthusiastic father to his two daughters, and very happily married to his wife, Dana. In his spare time, Dr. Kawata loves to spend time with his family, play golf, and travel. He is thrilled to be a part of the Corona community, and sharing the gift of a beautiful smile with all of his wonderful patients.
